I realised an overall spit and polish is needed, especially for the 'explosion' at the end. But i thought i'd submit it now anyway, and get your thoughts.

Smexifyingly updated.
-Puts his hammer on his shoulder before he jumps.
-Faster jump.
-Stays in midair for a while, to emphasise the power.
-Darkened and slightly improved flashes.
Updated again.
-New 'breathing' animation.
-For some reason drops hammer at the end.
-One more frame added before jump.
-Extended the hammer grip very slightly, although to make it physically possible that he can hold it i'd have to redo alot of the frames a fair amount, and that's beyond me at the moment. Just pretend it's a blow up hammer. And the rock is made of marshmellows. And he's jumping off a trampoline...

Incredible.  Ever play a game called 'Another World' (also titled 'Out of This World')?  The palette, shadows, and animation really remind me of that game, awesome style.  Have you written any tutorials?  You should think of it.  What tools/apps do you use?

Silly me, i read your comments but for some reason didn't take some of your advice in my update. I'll get onto those now sedge, alkaline, scruffs and mikl3. Thanks for the input everyone.

@kaltsu: Actually, he did begin in just black and white, and it looks quite cool too, so yeah. ^_______^

I like the shading on the rock. I think when he's got that hammer lifted above him, he should linger there for just a bit longer. But this is pretty nice nevertheless.

the way he's holding the hammere i in the beginning would put extreme stress on his wrist.  He shouldn't be holding it that far down the handle.

Nice smooth animation...I don't really like da idle pose cause it looks more like taking sections of him and shifting it around..it's too sharp and not human-movement-like..also the back leg is kinda strange because the knee is kinda pointy and part of it isn't moving at all.

So make the idle animation slower and more breathing/movement like.

About the actual animation: I suggest making the part where he swings the hammer up way faster than that, then have him pause, and then strike the rock. Either that or just pause after swinging the hammer up. And the rock breaks up in too many little pieces. Maybe have a bunch of big pieces just break off.

Really nice work with him preparing to strike. 

Minor crit:  the  final position looks a little bit ackward. Maybe having the hammer more "flat" to the ground might give the impression of a swing that would strike through a rock.
