This is going to be the main characters for an original web game im making as part of a small team. There called Blots (as in' ink blot'). They start off by drooping down from the scenery in a droplet and splat if there hit or fall to far. I cant really delve into the concept of the game much as it would spoil the surprise of the final game, but I have some really cool ideas and it all seemes to be running smoothly so far. More animations soon. Oh yeah and I realise that the walkcycle (topleft) dosent' loop so just look at my gallery for a looping version....crits welcome.

I really love that these blot sprites focus so heavily on the quality of the animation, rather than other things. Diggin' the big noses in all these things, and yeah, they are a bit like Yoshi's Island.

@rabidbadaboy....it doesnt need a jumping animation as the blots in this game cannot jump. Thanx for the praise tho.

I work with a wacom tablet. Have a few layers, and scribble my way over the top of the animation in its primary colours. So yeah the holes are happening naturally. I off-course edit the piece afterwards to neaten (or messen) it up a bit by adding a few dots here and there on each frame. these little sprites didnt need much of that tho as there soo small. Your stuff is ace too and im really impressed  by the things your doing currently aswell. Your game looks like its going to be a good one.

Man, I'm really blown away by all these sketchy sprites. I'm really curious how the hell you're achieving that effect so realistically; are you actually pixelling hastily and letting the little holes and stuff happen naturally? Or are you carefully placing all those little scratches and dots everywhere by hand? The result is surprisingly realistic and organic-looking, and I never would've thought that was possible with stuff that's so low-res and small-palette like these things you've been posting.
