This is an image that I worked on for the Legend of Mazzeroth project. I ultimately abandoned the project (although I'm working on another game with the same title) but kept the resource files. This was done a long time ago (circa 1996).

This was a working sheet of character images intended to be used in the game. About half of them were just NPC's but the other half with multiple version were main characters in the game. You can also see the color pallette I had developed for the game -- at the time it provided me with a tremendous number of color options -- I was even able to develop a redimentary alpha-blending type function with it! :)

So anyway, here they are. The important characters on this sheet are going to be NPC's in the new 'LoM'. Enjoy!

I can say that one of them is mostly based on Merle's image, yes. I was young at the time. And yes, I did look at the chrono trigger spirtes in an effort to see how I could put mine together. Template? Perhaps.

All of the sprites there were based on the one without hair at the top. If you want to remove the image, fine. It's not a crime against me I suppose. I just thought that someone might be interested in seeing how you could work with a particular style to create a variety of sprites.

Proof is in.  Bad edits, nothing more.

Darth, the problem with these is that many of these are straight-up recolorings of Chrono Trigger sprites. Take a look at the sprite sheets here and compare them to the sprites that have been uploaded here. Many of the pixels are even still intact from the original.

Aside from that, I would agree with Metaru that the actual pixel skill is lacking. There are far too many different colors, and the colors themselves are way too similar to warrant use.

I think, realistically, the ONLY thing we can do here is find leeor_net in the real world and kill him.  I mean ... how dare he post here?!!  Posting pixel art on a website called pixel joint ... what WAS he thinking??

leeor_net - I think the retro-look to these is quite nice.  There are probably more colors used than is needed in each sprite, but if you don't have a problem animating them there's no reason you can't use that many colors.  After all ... ART is what you make of it, not what others think you should or shouldn't do!

indeed. the first thing that came to my mind when i saw that female character in the middle was "that's marle".
besides, the pixel art quality is terrible. each sprite's color count is between 18-24 tones each one, mostly because the poor use of contrast on shades(specially the ones that use grey tones).

this makes me wonder how much time does people in the queque spend checking each piece before aproving it.
