Really great faxanadu-ish vibe in some of the screens. Great.
This is pretty awesome, I'm totally in love with the dragon screenshot.
For the first part of the game I tried with blue blocks, but I don't think that the blue is dark enough. Makes it look a bit too chaotic. Might give it another try, though.
Really nice! Even better than the previous screens. Have you tried to put some hires background blocks in the black background? (e.g. in red)
There's a really early demo here:

The game will be published by Psytronik when finished. For the c64, yes.

A later demo can be found on the disk version of Joe Gunn, also published by the above mentioned publisher.
Edit: What happens to the release-link?! Anyway, full path:

Okay - this is nice!
So please finish this game! There's way too many good looking, unplayable mockups on this site!
Man I'd play this for sure!!! I love castlevania/metroid games. I've never played a c64 though...
(please don't kick me off the site for admitting that...)
That looks really great. And the C64 is severly lacking castlevania clones!
Got the same response on the previous mockup of the game. One solution would be to tone down the background, for instance change the whites to yellows, but I'm quite happy with the backgrounds as they are.
The hero changes color depending on elemental armour he weares, so he isn't always this greyish. Although all of the c64 colors are desaturaded, he doesn't get this blurry...
It's an excellent piece, however, as far as playability would go, I have to say the main character has very little contrast, I'm not even playing the game, and it feels as if, to me, he's getting lost in the background and sorrounding details.
Awesome :O Well, the composition is what it is, but who cares :D
Love it, I'll play it one of these days. Just saw a good review on Youtube. Kudos.
