Nono, this in no way proofs how stupid you are. It just shows that the masters have some more skill in those certain aspects than you do.

You can learn this by practise too, but don't forget your piece is more than colors! The character design, anatomy, pose and whatever is left of it is interesting too! This is stuff I am not able to do, and I am sure not all of those color people can do it either!

It is a nice drawing, it just does not fit in our perception of pixel art. And that is what is needed to get it on this site.

It would be cool if you redid this piece. If you want a challenge, resize it to a quarter of what it is now, turn it into a complete grey silhouette and then start recoloring from scratch, watching your colors. 16 is a nice goal.

If you use the graphics program MTpaint, put the settings to Indexed palette and try to get used working with an indexed palette, it might get the coloring more easily as when you do it with paint or gimp.

umm... ok... I'll try harder DX.... I will redo this piece...

they make me want to cry though T^T (it proof me how stupid I'm)

Actually, the challenge is to do that yourself. I mean, instead of letting the computer drop that number (which is sort of pointless), you should try to find ways to create new colors with the old colors you have in use now. Doing so will increase your knowledge of colors a lot, and so your knowledge of pixel art.

Take this for example: http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/31473.htm

It shows a lot of detail, uses just 8 colors. Thats what pixel art (at least in my perception) is about. Trying to find new ways to play with your restrictions. Which can result in quite impressive stuff.

Other 8 color artwork examples:

sorry... I new about pixel T^T....

but thanks for reminding me DX...

...

Done.. Sets the color to 32 colors......

user
Hapiel (Level 11 Bonsai) @ 6/19/2009 22:58

This should not be under 80. This should be 32 at max, or we can hardly call it pixel art.

Some people (like me) use paint, some use gimp, and some use photoshop or paint shop pro.

Tipleloop (Level 2 Quiet One) @ 6/19/2009 02:02

ok... I'll try.. to make some under 80, i'm still a biginner DX!!

Btw did we use other software than MSpaint and adobe to make pixel?

user
Sporknife (Level 2 Peon) @ 6/18/2009 20:05

yeah, 235 is excessive, it should be at the very least under 80
