I take my hat off...eventhough I don't wear hats...this was a very challenging topic and you pulled it off. I like the idea that you tried to bring out the "chaotic" nature of how the autobots are put together. After having watched the 2nd movie that is what I thought of most - how it was almost difficult to look at the bots as they just had too many moving parts moving at the same time! I faved this one - good job.
It's so awesome, the details are SO great, that it just gets messy.. too bad
Unfortunately, I feel the same. The one thing that most people agreed about the movie is that they packed way too much detail in the robots. You seem to have unwittingly tranferred the mistake in your piece.
Don't get me wrong; individually, the pieces are fine. But they just don't read as a whole. I suggest you don't be afraid to mess with the detail by hiding them in shadow. Not every single piece has to have a shine or detail. :)
Quite messy, if you ask me. with all these details and small parts some parts of the body are a bit hard to read(specially on the chest area). the torso itself is way smaller in the reference(or the legs are longer, depends on how you want to see it).
wich is ironically what i disliked the most about the action scenes in the movie. so much stuff going on screen at the same time that you could barely see the giant robot between all the stuff blowing away.
Oh, nice work!
