Decided to try my hand at this week's challenge.  I'll admit, I'm kind of worried about this particular entry after looking around the WIP thread - it appears that outer space was on the lists of many as a difficult-to-survive environment.  This was actually my third or fourth idea, awkwardly enough - maybe I should have stuck with one of the weirder ones.

Image size is 150x150, the challenge max.  Color count SHOULD - and I emphasize SHOULD - be 16 precisely.  I double-checked the palette, counted the number of colors I had set out for myself, and loaded the finished file in ASEPRITE and GIMP to make absolutely certain that nothing had gone weird on me.  The only thing that I can think of which may have changed the color count is uploading the file to the internet - which is, of course, completely implausible.  That said: if the counter gives you a weird number, it ain't my fault.

EDIT: I took the image back into GIMP and found, much to my dismay, that ASEPRITE had dropped some opacity in places for no readily apparent reason, thus increasing the color count.  I have decreased it back to 14 as near as I can tell, but this may need confirmation.

EDIT: Confirmed by the counter; color count is now 15, though it still registers a number of the colors as partially transparent for some reason.  I promise you I didn't use any kind of transparency controls when making this; every color was created by hand using the in-program palette controls, and should therefore be perfectly opaque.  I wish I knew what's going on here.

And yes, it is, in fact, a koi jumping out of the sun.  Damn big koi if the curvature of the sun's surface is anything to go by, but then, this is stylized.  Physicists need not apply.

I used no opacity meters; the program I was using doesn't even have such an option to my knowledge.  I'll have a look at the original image and see if I can't figure out exactly what's going on there, then re-up if I can fix it, but I'm really starting to get sick of every file I put out gathering extra colors during export.  Going to have to look around the ASEPRITE forums and see if I'm the only one having these issues.

EDIT: I took the piece into GIMP and adjusted it; color count is now 15.  Hopefully those 'partially transparent' colors don't count against me, because I swear I didn't use any kind of opacity controls while making this piece.  I didn't even think ASEPRITE had such a thing.

I'm assuming you used opacity meters in your image as you have partially transparent pixels.

This makes your color count at 18. It's for the admins to decide whether or not it's still good, but if I'm not mistaken I think I read somewhere that pixel art is supposed to be done without any use of opacity. I could be wrong though.
