This is absolutely brilliant and a terrible shame it never got the spotlight it deserved. Looking at your layout, I but wonder how you put it all together in-game. are those pieces painted in layers and then tiled? as I'm assuming it had parallax effect? whatever the method, something is certain, it is an awesome piece. Kudos.

Sick, I looked into your stuff, and everything looks so good. You really got the skill.

Sweet looking game! Real shame it's been scrapped.

Atooi (Level 5 Soldier) at 8/9/2006 2:54:07 PM
It is scrapped unfortunately.

rabidbaboy (Level 4 Shichikyu) at 8/4/2006 1:31:15 AM
I like the Castlevania feel and the BG colors.
Though the bg isn't pixel art, am I right?
Is there a playable version of this, or is it scrapped?
5/5

Seriously amazing stuff. Not much more than a fav from me.

Atooi (Level 5 Soldier) at 3/24/2006 12:57:39 PM

Dark Eden is an evil and scary place, where nasty and devious creatures reside: the antithesis of the famous Garden of Eden. It's like Eden, but dark. Dark Eden! Geddit? :D

It is a playable demo I made a while ago (2002-ish) in an attempt to get a GBA development deal. It is now just a nice portfolio piece. :)

What's Dark Edon??

eghost (Level 5 Sniper) at 3/22/2006 9:04:33 AM
Awesome stuff...Definitly game worthy...My only little nitpick would be that the fleshtone highlight in the portrait seems just a hair to bright...But seriously, I've seen published games with far less polished graphics...

Inlagd Sill (Level 1 Quiet One) at 2/14/2006 7:35:34 AM
I'd like to see it animated. This blood flowing and that rain falling. I imagine it would be even more Castlevania-like then. Very nice. I don't count this 6th picture. Even as not a pixelart it's not too good when you compare it to the rest! Make it a pixelart and upgrade! Then it'll be perfect.

Atooi (Level 5 Soldier) at 1/16/2006 9:49:49 AM

Yes, you're right E-Magination, not everything is pixel art.

See the posts below for more detail.

Thanks for the kudos.

Lovely, but surely not everything is pixelart...

Thanks Fred, neota and d-p.

Yes you're right, image 6 is not a pixel image. In fact it was created by a very talented illustrator friend of mine, vyle. I just included it to show what the title image looks like. I think showing front-end menus and the like is important to give an impression of the game as a whole - whether it is pixeled or not.

Good point, neota. The diagonal rails should be thickened a bit. Good catch.

d-p (Level 10 Maniac) at 1/8/2006 12:56:33 PM
Look like true fun to me.

neota (Level 7 Ichikyu) at 1/7/2006 3:57:32 AM
This is GORGEOUS.

One crit:

* changing light level relative to angle can improve solidness. Definitely for the diagonal 'rails', maybe for the silvery angles in #2.

Fred (Level 3 Enforcer) at 1/7/2006 1:00:13 AM
Shit!!! I love it. FAVOURITE, but 6 image is not a pixel :/

Atooi (Level 5 Soldier) at 1/6/2006 10:15:01 AM

:) Some would say yes, pixel art is a religion. ;)

Thanks for the kudos.

DrunkyDuck (Level 1 Quiet One) at 1/6/2006 10:13:40 AM
"Is that sacrilegious?"
Is pixel art a religion?

But seriously, I can see it has been touched up, not just color reduced, and it works and looks great.

sedgemonkey (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 1/6/2006 9:51:09 AM

I like it... Castlevania with a samurai flair. Definitely a sweet looking game.  I'll keep an eye out for this when I get the Nintendo DS.

Atooi (Level 5 Soldier) at 1/6/2006 9:03:46 AM
Thanks Chaindog. It is definitely inspired by Castlevania! :)

Atooi (Level 5 Soldier) at 1/6/2006 8:45:49 AM

Yes, the backgrounds are 3D rendered, with a lot of touch-up to make them look good in 16 colors! :)

Is that sacrilegious?

DrunkyDuck (Level 1 Quiet One) at 1/6/2006 8:43:35 AM
Sorry to rain on your parade but your site says that those backgrounds are 3D rendered.

Amazing work anyway.

TheChaindog (Level 4 Murderer) at 1/6/2006 8:26:26 AM
Amazing. Very Castlevania-ish.

Atooi (Level 5 Soldier) at 1/6/2006 8:18:16 AM
Thanks Angel. They are for the GBA.

Angel (Level 5 Soldier) at 1/6/2006 8:16:54 AM
Realy cool! Are these planned to be to any specified console or are they only made for fun?
but as I said, they look realy cool.
