You might remember a game idea I mentioned a while back involving space pilots and top-down RPG strategy. Originally I started out by designing the pilots, but I didn't do any animation for them until just the other day. This one's just to showcase the four direction running animations (8 frames apiece), a basic pistol-firing animation, and a death animation. More to come as I work on the other pilots!
This here's the Bomber Pilot. He's not the hero space wants. He's not the hero space needs. Hell. He's not even a hero. But would YOU want to argue with a guy who flies a ship that can destroy a solar system? Because I sure wouldn't. Too bad for him, though. He should've shot three times instead of two, methinks.
I suspect that the flag on his helmet is due to this being some sort of alternate-timeline stemming from a more advanced space program during the 1950s and 1960s. I haven't actually seen them yet, but there may be some Space Russians running around as well. Still not sure about the story for this guy, but I think he's probably a failed Space Navy applicant who just bought himself some nifty after-market hardware. He certainly doesn't SEEM fully trained - just overly enthusiastic.
In actual space combat he specializes in straight-line bombing runs, relying on his countermeasures to get him through to the other side. If he's ever boarded, though, this will probably be the result. Rest in peace, space citizen!
