Ahh, for a minute I thought it might be Dormin from SotC. This is some awesome shading, and the whole monster looks even better. xD Can't wait to see the finished product.
nice use of highlights and dithering, but i think it's a little dark, specially in the zone of the glowing eye, it should be have some iluminated surface around it.
