Pixel Art Challenge: Good vs. Evil

From the winner of the Game Tile challenge, Doppleganger comes this week's challenge: 'Good vs. Evil'. Choose a palette, good or evil and then sprite a scene portraying good or evil. This means your scene will either be good or evil -- not a mix.

  • Must use all 6 colors from the same palette, good or evil (not a mix)
  • Canvas Size is 144x192 or 192x144
  • Must be a scene portraying good or evil depending on the palette you chose.
The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.

The palettes are just fine. It's just that everyone keeps using them in the same way.

Doppleganger (Level 6 Yonkyu) @ 5/11/2007 08:31
Sorry about the funky palettes, I suppose I didn't ramp them as well as I would've liked.

The evil palette has lightness variation but no hue variation and the good palette vice versa. Adding the possibility of a good vs evil scene using 3 colors from each would've probably helped that situation.

Anyways, it's good to see that some people made some decent stuff with the palette, and the difficulty of the palettes adds to the challenge I suppose. If I find some time before the contest ends I'll put in an entry of my own so I can fully understand what not to do when giving people random palettes. :p

ilkke > You think about the "ilkke on the wood" by Jamon ? This doppleganged entries was very funny.

guts> sorry, but this time I'm determined to follow through with my experiment

tomic> prolly not, seeing how it's this-or-that affair, but you can always upload it as two images.

tomic (Level 11 Admiral) @ 5/8/2007 02:51

would it be valid to do a picture which is 192x144 with the left part (96x144) using palette 1 and the right part (96x144 too =) using palette 2 ??

silent sniper (Level 1 Depressed) @ 5/7/2007 18:59

Joey4742 (Level 1 Depressed) @ 5/7/2007 18:28

ilkke > Oh god ! Please, post them on the challenge thread !!

iLKke (Level 9 Nidan) @ 5/7/2007 08:13
Finished both good and bad!
Now the boring part of waiting till the last minute to upload them. Yawn.

Vertigo-Zero (Level 9 Necrophiliac) @ 5/7/2007 06:08
I finished mine but the evil palette aint good to work with, the third and fourth colour are too much the same darkness

killanotha1 (Level 1 Rookie) @ 5/7/2007 03:02
this is difficult. but I want to try.

OMGFossil (Level 6 Yonkyu) @ 5/7/2007 02:20
ill try actually entering this one

expect something epic

Ensellitis (Level 11 Sensei) @ 5/7/2007 02:03
yes.  you can only use one of those palettes, and have to pixel something good OR evil

Varock Shade (Level 7 Underboss) @ 5/7/2007 01:47
I think so. But as far as i understand from the text, we should choose either good or evil and pixel something that looks good or evil, acoording to to the palette you chose...?

iLKke (Level 9 Nidan) @ 5/7/2007 01:46
The text is not clear. So we use only those 6 colors, I presume?

Guts (Level 2 Corporal) @ 5/7/2007 01:05
6 colors only. Less than the CMYNRGB Challenge. This one I will post an entry.

Lawrence (Level 10 Operative) @ 5/7/2007 00:41
This is a good idea. I might use the 'good' palette because it's more evenly ramped.
