Seriously who cares what tools a person uses as long as its pixel art at the final product, all references are quoted and the colour count is reasonable. I'm a programmer but I know all the artists at work get told the same thing SPEED and CONSISTENCY! Crippling yourself is pointless you might as well say all pixel art should be done in text editor as the original games were done before art software.
