I know what you mean, and I did want to do it. but my goal was to make it like a dull cellphone picture. that's why the palette is less rich, like you would see in an art piece.
Still, your example isn't really in anyway harmfull for the image. It actually works fairly well

The legs didn't look so short before I added the hair, but you are right, they ar fairly shorter.
The left arm (I assume the character's left arm) might be long (in the upper arm section) I can fix that!
Thanks for the comments!

I didn't even know editing was possible.

the similarity between the guards if the result of two factors. One, I was trying to keep them within the same palette/style, so the player would alwaus read them as enemies.
Second: I rushed to complete this :D
I was more concerned with the scene.

I made the templar huge as a indication of him being like a miniboss or something like that. maybe I over did it.

Thank you for the kind words!

since I kept the scale close to street fighter alpha sprites, I was unable to add much more detail to the face.

I accept that criticism whole heartedly. I think that this being pixelart is actually only relevante in some areas of the image. as in others I used speed tricks which I never got back to fix or clean up as you mention.
I did make this live in about... 6 to 7 hours, maybe, so there is a lot of layering, and randomly adding colors to serve my view. I'd love to bring this down to say, 32 colors. Might not be possible, but would be fun.

actualyl it might be 128, as the image I uploaded was only the thumbnail. its fixed now!

yeah I think the count was wrong. I did try automatically reducing the amount of colors to about 32 colors and it still held up fairly well. I should have been more restrained with the colors, but I hacked at it like a digital painting.
