Thanks for the advice!  I'll work on it tonight.

Sure thing, jalonso -- sorry about that!

So, uh, which one do you recommend I submit?

Great shadingand facial expression!  My only critique is that he seems a bit stiff, like his shoulders should be a bit more slumped.  Good work!

Gelatinous cubes are the best!  Especially when they have googly eyes.

I agree with everybody about the Minecraftyness of it.  I don't mean to plagiarize!  I will learn jellybeanfish's advice here.

Jellybeanfish: Thanks for the considerate response!  I certainly did not give as much consideration to the color palette as I should have.  These are some great grass block examples -- I especially like the 2nd, where the dirt can be seen through patches of grass.  And the bushier tiles are great, too.  I have a lot of reading/learning to do.  :)

I agree that the tiling on those is too obvious.

There's no connection between the tiles because this is the first iteration of a terrain generator, and making transitionary cubes would require a lot more coding.  That's also why it's so random -- the layout was generated by a computer program rather than laid out by hand.  With a little more time, both the programming and the pixel work would've become better... but it's a dead project now unfortunately.  C'est la vie!

Haha, indeed, it's very much in the style of Minecraft.  But even when I tried to un-Minecraft it, it was very difficult to make an isometric cube landscape look like anything but Minecraft.  Any ideas?

Definitely a good suggestion!

Thanks!  And yes, I kind of stopped working on this guy, but I have one or two more to post.
