@Jalonso: I agree about the tree dither.  I wanted it to have a texture rather then look like a pole but with the harsh contrast in browns, it defenitly stands out.

I suggest, in the future, agree on requirements up front.  Try to be as descriptive as possible.  If there are a lot of requirements, split them into milestones and set prices per milestone.  Refuse to do anymore work until you are paid for previous efforts.  I would google best practices for writing requirements because it's not simple.  For example, make sure all requirements are testable or can be confirmed.

Hmm.  Each 8x8 tile uses one background pallet.  I think I went wrong with having more than four background pallettes.  I was mostly practicing the color combinations so I missed this...  I'm starting one more mock up and I'll pay closer attention to this detail.
