1 ultimate pixeler who, based on his penultimate post, seemed very angry at another guy due to some sort of quiet (I'm not sure if it was a louder one) feud between over art style/tone/something. His recent art looked awesome too.

Dumbo, I believe that Jalonso was referring to another more recent gallery clearance. Also, I'm just a rare poster until I reckon my stuff is cool enough compared to you lot.

I don't really agree that Hulk should be green, at least in the context of the mockup and the enemies on this sheet. Mainly because the main characters have two main colour schemes, Blue and Grey/Red or Red and Yellow whilst enemies and backgrounds are fundamentally green or blue. It just lets them stand out on the green.

I really love these sprites and they have that real NES feel to them. I'm just wondering, what NES restrictions are actually in place?

I kinda agree with TGK. The ice cream is rather difficult to read against the background. what with it having the same/similar base colours as the background behind it. Perhaps you could lighten it? Also, how is the ice cream lit on (our) right side if the jellyfish is the light source?

Looks wonderful though. I can see it placing quite high.

The grass, the rocks and the man are all awesome, but the trees might not be iso and they're out of scale by... alot. If you took the full circle at the top of the stumps and compared it to the characters, you'd find they barely cover their foot. I think the lack of scale between the trees and characers are ruining this piece. It may explain why they look deformed and unnatural.

I'm not a fantastic pixel artist and can't really give a good example of what an iso tree should look like in comparison with the characters, but from what I've read on this website I think you need to use a grid basis to establish the proper scale.

*EDIT* Of course, some trees are that scale to people, but all of these are more of less the same tree size and there's no personality between them and suggests that a different trunk for different sized leaf bundles would work better than changing the size of the circle by one or two pixels.

Alas Mr Pang, you are correct. A winner it is!

I'll probably end up voting for this, it being Sunday and it's the best entry I've seen so far, but the eyes. The eyes look weird. Are they closed, then where are the gaps between the eye lids? Are they open, then where are the pupils? It's the only off-putting thing on this entire piece... Except... Y'know, a naked Gabe.

I saw this and rather thought it looked rather impressive, clear definitive shades and impressive usage of colours in the eyes.

But where the hair meets the background, and the shading of the hair at the bottom could be improved with AA. You could use the light blue, dark blue and darker pink to AA  the darkest color to the light green, dark blue to AA the hair to the background, the dark pink to AA to the dark skin color and perhaps the dark skin color to AA the dark pink to the orange. Heres a edit with that color choice,

     Edit          Original

I may have overdone it slightly but, it shows what I'm trying to say. Maybe you could even add a highlight in the hair with the brightest skin color.

Hey! People care! I didn't expect comments really.

@Harrionk I'm happy for you to use them.

@uburur Do you mean make it have some sort of point at the top of the slime and make the corners appear to be absent or do you mean having the corners having different heights? I like the idea of having corners at different heights, but not the point, what with so many other designs having some sort of point to the top of it and it breaks my intended design, which was, that it was like a giant living thick jelly which means that it seems to squash down and back up as it moves when animated. I'll see how your suggestions look regardless.

Am I the only one who first saw some sort of abstract image of a skull and skeleton hands with a guy with a gun there?

Eventually, I finally grasped what it was, and it looks awesome when you know what it is. I reckon I'll vote for this, but it really does remind me of Arkham Asylum in that first fight with Scarecrow, which is in no way a bad thing.

Desterrado @ 5/17/2011 08:09 commented on Cyclops

@Skamocore Seeing as we're only allowed to show two tentacles, one nose and three eyes, are we allowed to imply the existance of more?

Planning to actually do this challenge. Will be fun.

*EDIT* Shouldn't have posted unless I actually finished it.

I hate hate hate the timing of this challenge. I've been waiting for a challenge I could (hopefully) do and had a idea for. Finally comes up. Homework. ARGH! Ah well. Excellent challenge, Delicious. Hope that fate gives me a well timed and awesome challenge next week... Or eventually. :(

Would've been a awesome first entry to my gallery if it went well.

*EDIT* Screw it. Tomorrow I begins.

*EDIT2* Not gonna make it. Lack of skill means it's not going well. >.<

Desterrado @ 4/13/2011 10:59 commented on Sunset Seascape

As effective as the water is against the sunset, the tree and the surface it's on blend with the sand too much. IMO, it looks like theres a line of grass going along the sea with a tree on it and the water coming in on both sides, plus the tree looks a little flat. But those are the only glaring problems I can see, otherwise its brilliant, especially for 10 colors. (Also, maybe more texture in the sand could help). The foreground may be a little bit rushed compared to the water and sky?

But I am a noob, without the most experience or artistic ability, so those 'problems' may not be problems.

.PS. I can tell that its a beach with some sort of grassy cliff with a tree growing on it, with the tide coming in.

The concept is brilliantly applied. The style it's in is amazing, But I've noticed one very minor thing and that is that around the hair on leg of the (were)wolf there is still white space, you may not have noticed it, but its there.

Btw, the hair is just insanely well drawn. I'll be prying into this to learn its secrets.
