Lovely style. I might suggest lowering the contrast in the background a bit to better separate it from the foreground, as it's looking a bit busy right now.

It's just that I've included the damage frame at the end (not animated). As it's for a game the animations wouldn't normally simply go in sequence like this.

Stunning. Love how the wings follow the shape of the clouds.

Haha, "combat formal". That's it! :) I am imagining it being fairly silky and light.

Those clouds are lovely! I like how you've separated different textures by changing the angle on the dithering.

It's awesome. :D Love the reflection and also the up down movement of the water. May I ask what software you used?

Thanks! Not for Duelyst, but my client was looking for something with a similar style. Most characters are a bit smaller, but this one, being larger, is closer to the Duelyst size, too.

Thanks :) I'd actually started this piece and had the main motion down a couple of months ago and had that animation on my twitter. I noticed the similarity too when you posted it. Thats not to say its not inspiring work, though. Ive certainly taken influence from your FX work more generally. xD

Looking good, man!

One thing I notice about the spikes is that the lighting suggests they are curved lengthways rather than around their width. If they are meant to be conical and shiny, I would expect the lightest parts of the reflection to be tall and thin, and probably less uniform across the spikes. This might be tricky at this resolution, but certainly doable. It might also bring up the average lightness to make them stand out more. I do love the inclusion of the blue on them, though.

Another thing to try might be removing the dark outline on the top of the ground. Right now it seems to create a pretty unnatural step. Against much the the background, it is one of those outlines that ends up being lighter than the background which can give a kind of embossed feeling. I suspect it would look good if you just replaced it with the lightest green, or went a bit darker with it if you still want to keep the outlines on the ground.

As a painting it's fantastic! I'd love to see it cleaned up at the pixel level. That would be some task for sure, but worth it, I think.

@DanielHyaku Thanks. My intention is that the hair is actually being sucked in the direction of the fire. She's commanding a force in that direction and her hair is going along for the ride, rather than the fire moving the hair.

Love the composition and the sky. Normally I hate dithering, but you've actually used it meaningfully. There are just and odd couple of places that don't work too well for me, and they are on the two robots. I feel like the one on the right could do with a rim light to better mirror the bug on the left. Also, around the left gun, the legs, and behind the center robots hands there are some single pixel lines that are't needed and seem to depart a bit from the smoother style in the rest of the piece. Overall, great piece :)

Good start, though I feel like the gradient is way too steep from bottom to top. Instead of having this very bright light at the top that quickly drops off toward the bottom, perhps light the walls from the torches instead?

I'd love to post on the forum, but I still can't. I'm not registered on the forum, and there isn't any way to register, because it just takes me to here. I suspect it's an issue for all new accounts.
