Very nice! I agree with Skull.. I like the skin tones you chose. The smile animation is nice as well! I'm not sure I like the colors you used on the teeth Maybe outlined them with a grey? It almost looks too similar to the skin tones... and I'm just curious. I see the teeth alternate every time you smile. What is the second one supposed to be?

Nothing really to critique here... uhm.. can it be a tile? That would be spiffy! Also, I think the "tail" on the little comet thingies, I think, should start off as wide as the object it's trailing, and then taper off. Nice job though! :D

Love the colors! :D I also think I would enjoy creating something similar to this. Fun! Here are some tips that I think you will find helpful! :D

1) If it is an angry mermaid, I think she should express it, at least a little in her face. Right now it's kind of like... barbie face. You know what I mean?
2) I love the hair!!! But, if the hair wasn't covering her left shoulder.. It would look a little strange I think. It appears that it comes further up than where her collar bone is located.
3) The ear is just a little toO high in my oppinion. The upper lobe of the ear generally connects onto the side of the head horizontally aligned with the eye... and the bottom lobe aligns with the bottom of the nose.

Otherwise, I'm impressed my the details.. I always appreciate those. Once some of the anatomy is fixed, This would be quite stellar! Very nice! :D

This moon, IMO, doesn't really look like a moon. However, in an abstract way.. yes. As far as the pixel techniques go... The first thing that caught my eye are those jaggy edges... That's a no-no. You can find a lot of tutorials on this under the tutorial section of this site. Secondly, I'm not too thrilled with the shape of the shadow. The little curl is interesting, but the area under a nd to the side of it I think should be a little more rounded. It should kind of match the contour of the moon. However, if this is supposed to be more abstract... then it is forgiven. Haha! :D

Good first work! Looks like it won't take long for you to get REALLY good at this! :D I personally think it's ok to outine the image with a black border, however, I wouldn't have extended that outline in the bang/hair line area. Nice job! :)

Haha! I love this! However, I do agree with Dark Rogue. The teeth need to be blended a little some how. Perhaps drop down to a slightly darker shade of the turquoise for the top and bottom of those needle teeth. Give it a try, I'm not sure how that would look. I do love it though! It made me laugh! :D

Wow... just wow!!!! :D This is spectacular! I'm curious as to how long it took you to make this! The only thing that I could find that could be improved (IMO, of course) are some of the edges... particularly around the flags, the little tents, those little boxes/chest thingies, and the one tower in the wall... but I don't know. Maybe they are supposed to stand out? They just seem to have a darker outline than some of the other buildings and such.  Anyways, I love this! +Favorites! :D

Ah, yes.. I like this one even more. The animation is much better as well. Pattern in the bg looks rather tasty as well. I so happy that I've been able to see your avatar develope AND improve over the past few days. Congrats!

Aww.. he's cute. After you get mor comfortable with using pixels, I would suggest experimenting with your black outlines. Try making them a darker color of the area it's outlining. Like a dark brown around the face, and a grey around the hair. You may like that style better.

The hair is interesting, colors are nice... However, I feel the profiles proportions any facial features are a bit off. Here are some things I noticed...

- The cranium is a bit on the small side. The frontal width of the head looks alright, but the cranium should extend farther back at this angle. About 7-8 pixels past the ear.
- The facial/neck wrinkles are not very realistic. I suggest spending some time studying pictures of elderly people and how and where the wrinkles are formed.
- The placement of the ear is not correct. It should be higher. A general guideline is the top part of the ear (where it connects to the head) should be aligned horizontally  with the eyes. The bottom part of the ear (that connects to the head) should be aligned horizontally with the bottom of the nose.

I hope I was helpful! :D Keep up the good work!

Yes, very small indeed. Nice vibrant colors. I don't think I can really critique any of it seeing as how it's such a small graphic. Such a small space can pose a great challenge to create details. It's good for what it is.

Cool! I like that it's animated! I do, however, see a few issues with the shading...

- I would set the color values of the skin to be a little closer together... or perhaps dither them so they blend better.
- Along the lit side of the face, there should be a bit more contrast between the highlighted part and the edge. Just a little. Maybe an inner outline of the middle value.
- The neck shouldn't be as lit as it is. Under the chin, darker value, and I wouldn't extend the highlight all the way to the middle.
- Again, on the forehead,  i would extend the highlight a little further and lessen the rounding of the top and maybe more on the bottom.

Just some ideas! Great work! :D

Very, very nice. I like the colors you chose! I would also recommend making a variation with a dark blue background. I bet that would look just as nice or better because of it being complementary to the moon. Great texture as well!! :)

I did reference from a couple of fighting game sprites in order to construct it, but didn't directly copy any of them. I suppose the pose is kind of common. Lack of originality on my part. You're right, it does look rather sloppy. I made it a few weeks ago, and even over these last few weeks, I have learned a lot of new pixel techniques. Hopefully they will start rubbing off on future pieces. Thanks!

OK, well I kind of take that back, because I just look at your reference.. and that's how he painted it. So no complaints! Yay!

Yay! I am a huge Chun-Li fan! So naturally, I love this piece! :D
I love how you rendered Chun-Li's body, and the scenery is beautiful. I love the colors you chose. The only thing I see that bothers me is in the water. Are those supposed to be ripples in the water? Little waves? If so, then I would suggest making them less like triangles. Perhaps use a photo for reference. Unless those are some kind of reflection? + Favorites!
