CHALLENGE: One Word Comic
Create a comic that uses exactly one word. It can be used in a speech bubble, a sound effect, a street sign, anything; as long as there is only one single word. It must be a legible and hand pixeled word in English. Loan words are acceptable; for example you may use "Aloha" as your word.

Also, no concealing extra words.

The comic must have at least 3 panels.

Canvas Size - Unrestricted.

Colours - Unrestricted.

Transparency - Optional.

Animation - No.
CHALLENGE RULES
Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
Only new pixels allowed.
Open to all members.
Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.
CHALLENGE JUDGING
Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES
Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
No matter what happens you get challenged :)

	hate to contradict you, ska, but any symbol that is intended as a word is a word. ie: a speech bubble with a heart in it, & = and, binary code could mean a word, :) = happy, etc edit: as it does state in the rules: It must be a legible and hand pixeled word in English Edited by pixelblink - 23 February 2009 at 8:12pm

	Example: no words used, but the simbols represent the concepts. in another words, only one thing can be *said*

	& is not a word in English. Check the dictionary. Symbols are symbols. A clown face represents a clown, but it isn't the word "clown" ^&%* can imply a word, but isn't a word. Basically, I think if you can play a word in scrabble it's allowed in this challenge. "&", "♥" and ":)" can't be played in scabble. "and", "heart" and "happy" can. I can tell this is going to be a long week D:

	Where is that Jalonso quote that says how incredibly difficult it is for people to understand the rules when you need it? I'm pretty sure ska made the challenge, so just accept it and come up with other billions of ideas that are allowed with the 26 letters we have to work with. This is one of the best challenges in a long time. I'll look forward to the next challenge-recycle challenge so I can enter this. good luck everyone!

	Not going to post a WIP, I want mine to be a surprise. Kay, so only alphabet characters arranged as a word contained in the english dictionary count as your word. So if I were to use a symbol such as a number, non-alphanumeric character, or a small picture, that would not count as my single word. Correct? The comic I have planned doesn't have anything of that like, just a single word with punctuation, I'm just curious about the ruling here. Is Skamore privy to knowledge about the contest that Pixelblink isn't? They're both Rear Admirals so I'm not sure which one to believe.

	I think using symbols in place of words is kinda cheap. :( Maybe not cheating, but cheap. This seems like a comic challenge as well as a pixel challenge, at least to me... Using symbols in place of words changes a bit of the focus from "how can I use my one word in a stylish/awesome/hilarious way" to "how can I use symbols to replace the rest of the words I need to make this make sense" which is much less impressive to me. :( Anyways hopefully I can get something done for the weekly challenge this time because I <3 comics.

	the rules are clear, and they're easy to understand. only one word. period. no need to twist the challenge rules and look for loopholes to adjust it to your needs. should be the other way around.

	This is my first challenge and I have to say, I really had to think for a while. It's weird but I think it's easier to come up with a no-word strip than to come up with just one word; when you have only one word it REALLY has to say just the right thing. 	give that can of beans a proper background... looks like the stripe could use one more frame to explain how did the bee found that can of beans... remember you're telling a story, so it needs to be clear in order to be readable.

	My only suggestion would be to give the middle panel a basic background; the other two panels have backgrounds and the can looks like it's floating in limbo. Maybe a quick horizon line and a simple shadow would give the can a base while keeping the background from being distracting. Also, the crenellations in the word balloon are a little distracting, I'd try a smooth oval and see how it looks. BTW, I really like what you did with the bee, especially in panel 3.

	now, i think you should put an eye on the amount of colors you're using. 176 colors(with 147 only in the can of beans) tells me that you either antiasialed it using semi transparent tools or used an autmated process or you just put a new color for every single detail you wanted to use, wich makes no sense considering you have dithering there. and most of the panels have the same problem.

	well i think the comic needs to have the grass shaded. so it matches the first and last frame of the comic.

	wip (just a quick rough sketch I did yesterday to capture my idea, I probably won't be able to finish this before the deadline): edit Making progress... edit 2 (still working on it and as the challenge is already over, I've just decided to turn it into a zero words comic, added another story element (worm) and I'm not going to rush it...)
