CHALLENGE: Side Canvas Not So Fruity

Much like the Mid-Canvas Void challenge we ran a while back, the goal here is to pixel something using the provided template. You must, however, include a single solid coloured area - indicated below by the highlighted green square. The highlighted section can be any colour you want; it doesn't necessarily have to be #00ff00 / green.

You may rotate the canvas if you like; this means that the top, right, bottom, or left hand side could contain your solid-colour area.

Perhaps, most importantly, unlike the previous challenge, your image doesn't have to relate to fruit (but it can if you want).

CHALLENGE RULES

• Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
• Only new pixels allowed.
• Open to all members.
• Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

• Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.

to me it does, looks great in the bottom left corner, just not sure what is with the red drop hitting the skull

ah ok, might want to change the position of the splash effect near it then, kind of looks like the laser designator is causing it, if you get what i mean

@ Chibiwing:   ooooh, that is really pretty.  It would be so cool to see that animated, too bad there's no animation allowed for this challenge.

@ a3um:  That is amazing.  I'm kind of wondering how it would look if the rain was at an opposing angle to the laser instead of being parallel.  I think that might make things more dynamic/interesting, but maybe I'm completely wrong (it's really hard for me to tell whether that would look good or not without being able to see the rain at a different angle)

both of your pieces are quite subtle with hiding the square, too, which I respect.

EDIT: now I'm not so sure about what I said regarding the rain, hmm...

Because of my pixel art is not accepted, so I made this:

oh hi i cant log on the gallery.

I don't like either one.  Try looking around to see how others have drawn crystals and look at real crystals too.
