No, that would be fine, and people change their thumbnails when they don't fit the piece quite regularly. It's if you start making lots of tweaks to them that your work becomes better off on the forum, since the gallery is for pieces that are and look finished.
That said, and I think someone mentioned this to you before, your works in progress would benefit from being posted on the forum for feedback before you submit them to the gallery.
oh ok, then what if i edit the thumbnail, will it be removed altogether because it was clasified as a WIP or something? because i have had that before...
The actual piece isn't bad and has some of your tightest pixelling, but that thumbnail lacks pixel-level control and looks rather messy overall. Plus, it's only marginally related to the full-view piece. I suspect the thumbnail is the reason this is still on the queue.
