(View at 2x or even 4x for best result.)

I first got interested in pixelart way back in 2002 due to a programm called RPGMaker. Since I had just limited internet and just a few video games, I started to invest quite some time into it. Even as little children, I drew a lot a of video games on paper. Shortly, I wasn't satisfied using graphics from other games like Terranigma, Secret of Mana and Alundra anymore, to name a few. So I began to create my own tilessets and characters, also because I was interested in drawing and painting anyway.

This is the result of my third serious project together with some others. It's still in progress, but I don't know if I can ever finish it, it's just too much work for just a single graphic person I realized. But I learned a lot by making these. Most of the graphics are from 2011 to 2014.

I removed all transparency effects for PJ, characters and some objects, because the most are placeholders at the current stage. More to come.

1. Entrance to a snowy mountain.

2. A battlefield in the snow.

3. Road to the temple, with parallax (heavely inspired by Castlevania)

4. Bridge to the temple.

5. The temple's door.

6. Inside the temple.

These are excellent tiles. They have that good old RPG feel.

Fantastic color scheme. Great atmosphere, as specialmin64 put it. Please, continue!  :)

I love this! Especially screen 3

To Damian: I agree, should be viewed at 2x or even 4x. Thanks :)

Those last two looked a bit noisy for my likeing, but look superb at x2! Overall, just fantastic qaulity.

just a bit more of work you don't want to spend if it's not absolutely necessary

I get it, when you're making a game you will need to cut corners sometimes, otherwise you can end up working on it forever.

To GameBoy: It looks a bit better in motion, but you are not wrong I think. But I can't rework the graphics all the time. Also you have to consider that a non-mirrored background is just a bit more of work you don't want to spend if it's not absolutely necessary. And thanks :)

Trick17 (Level 8 Venus fly trap) @ 7/27/2016 04:31

To specialmin64: Yeah, I think that's because 3D graphics were kinda new and it seems more simple to build your own game with pixels. But the scene seems kinda dying now.

I'm fiddling with RPG Maker too.

Background in castle road is kinda too busy, I think simple shapes of trees in one colour would be enough. I don't like mirrored background in temple bridge too.

Aside of that it's lovely, I especially like these pine trees in first two shots (they're just perfect) and whole temple exterior.

specialmin64 (Level 3 Litter) @ 7/26/2016 19:48

These are amazing. Great atmosphere.

Edit: rpgmaker is what got me into pixelart too. Even random people i've talked to who aren't artists have said they tried making pixelart for rpgmaker back in the day lol. Interesting how many people used that program
