Don't know what I like more - the picture, or the description... Hmmm.. Both are outstanding.
"Road House!"
Thanks guys! As for which dirty techniques it'smainly dropping in various assets, color-reducing them, and pixeling over. Also using tons of layers with gradient maps and various blending modes to produces the various hues and tones. Whatever gets the job done!
" a gender-swapped high fantasy version of the 1989 Patrick Swayze classic 'Road House' done in the style of a Japanese RPG."
This reminds me a bit of how my aunt once described her recipe for pumpkin butter:
"It's just like apple butter, I think. Except that you use pumpkins instead of apples. And you don't use the same spices. And I think you cook it differently too."
I love the look of it! Very stylish--it reminds me of Adarias's work.
This looks great. I'd love to hear what some of the dirty techniques are, if you don't mind sharing.
I guess we're going to be needing a whole studio full of Junkboys then!
she's so cute! I wish this was a real game! excellent work!
I see a lot of awesome pixelpieces on Pixeljoint, but to make a full game out if it... Would take years and years to do! Just look at Owlboy for example. For my own games, I often choose a really simple style to make it possible to make a complete game out of it.
The colours used for the dark side of the buildings are spot on.
Dang you junkboy! Your style is so awesome, instantly recognizable. Really nice work! I would love to see a game in this style.
Definitely getting those old JRPG vibes, and I love it
