In the game it would be built out of a smallish number of tiles so it won't look quite like this, but the closer I can get, the happier I'll be! I'll post an actual tiley mock-up when I can.
I'd love to see this in an actual game.
Parallax backgrounds might be good, but I like how flat it is now.

I considered adding another colour for AA, but I'm not sure about it. I'd probably end up using that colour for some more distant silhouettes too (can't have enough parallax layers, ever), and then I'd once again end up with some un-AAed parts (dark silhouettes over new silhouettes). That rabbit hole goes deep. I still have one colour per season that I haven't used, and if I don't find a use for it as an accent colour on sprites, I'll use it for more background trees and AA.
Well done eishiya! This is excellent . Just one suggestion for improvement: add a shade and do AA between the tree silouhettes and the background color. That new shade could also be used to refine your AA everywhere else as well. Just my 2 cents!
I'll probably code the game before I figure out how to do mockups with parallax scrolling ): But yesss, I love scrolling foreground, especially the silhouetty type. Really looking forward to making the tiles (going to get started on that today) and seeing it all animated in-engine (definitely not today) too.
Speaking of silhouettes, I enjoy the use of foreground silhouettes. They'll look especially great with a scrolling motion as the character moves. I've got hype for more and possibly some animated mock-ups when the time comes.

Thanks! I wasn't specifically thinking "melancholy", but that certainly works. It'll probably lose that once filled with items and creatures, but I'll try to keep it from being too lively.
It's a good mood study. Wait, I mean a melancholic mood study. But it's good. Shesh, language so tricky.
