This is one of the first pieces that I did when trying to get into pixel art. I knew at the time that it wasn't very good compared to what I was seeing in other veterans' work, but it still gave me that special feeling like the first step of a long journey. Like that little guy looking over this wierd alien world and not really knowing what lies beyond. What's that peptobismol goo that this planet is bleeding? What's beyond those mountain spires? How will I get up there? How will I cross that foreign landscape?
The true answer? I have no idea! But sometimes the journey of improvement is less about the end result, but what you learned along the way. Take this picture for what it is: one step of a thousand (two thousand if I'm lucky).
A little about the submission itself: The original was 31 colors and the rework is 15. So altoghether, with transparency between the two, it should come out right at 32. I really did like the pallette I used on the original so I decided, 'why fix what's not broken'? I obviously lowered the count for the rework and upped the canvas size so I could give more detail. I hope it payed off and that you enjoy viewing it! :)
Til next time, keep making what you love and getting inspired! YOU CAN DO IT! ;D
