Top Pixel Art - December 2017 (#2)
Ah thanks for the info! Checking out your website now and love your art style! (The vivid colours really are a joy to the eye)
I used a process you see elsewhere in my gallery (Grishkin, !, Liondog, Consider the Lilies) and turned a traditional painting into pixel art. So the computer decided my palette based on the color choices in my painting, then I tweaked it from there.
I never use preformed palettes and I don't worry much about color counts, the palette develops to fit the concept.

Holy shit! What a masterpiece!
Obviously I'm impressed with the quality of this piece as a whole. Call me crazy but I really love the framing. The simplicity, color, and rounded edges of the frame fit so well. Definitely a classic portrait feel.
I feel like some of the decisions about what to make heavily antialiased and out of focus and what to make more sharply outlined and crisp are a bit odd, but on the whole it’s got loads of depth and is quite aesthetically pleasing.
