beautiful, very good pixelling
somehow it recall me Stalker movie by Tarkowski
Very striking palette. You manage to convey a lot of detail and form with relatively 'simple' shading on the characters (for instance their hazmat suits are primarily the yellow midtone and an orange shadow, with some selective dark outlines) such that they don't really look 'retro'; this feels appropriately modern and detailed, yet clean and readable.
@cure, thanks
Haven't watched it, but heard many good things about it. Maybe I should one day
@MrQuetch, hey, glad to hear that, thanks
Those poor people have to fight giant insects without even guns though
@gennoveus, could be less than 29, tbh. I'm pretty lazy with colors, so there's always some room for optimisation
I can't help but think of the ant invasions from the Amiga classic, "It Came From the Desert". Really amazing job on those pixels! You inspire me!
Good grief the skill in this piece is absurd. I get some very strong Simon Stålenhag vibes from this. Amazing variety of textures achieved, and done with only 29 colours; I was sure it was more. Amazing!
I was looking at every little part of it for a decent while, trying to find some words to use, but failed. It’s just too perfect. Every bit shows skill worth pursuing.
I love the concept and the color choices add so much to the mood. The suited people and the fossil have particularly satisfying clusters to me.
