Jen is a 21yo history teacher living in the big city. Her best-friend Marisha gets married and dramatically goes missing shortly after. The husband is accused of murder and undergoes lengthy heartbreaking interrogations until finally proven innocent. Jen never has reason to suspect the husband; knowing all along he didn’t have anything to do with it - looks for answers at another angle. Both of them devastated, Jen decides to put her life on hold to uncover Marisha’s mysterious disappearance. The police kept all Marisha’s journals, but there was one that they missed. Whilst reading it, Jen is reminded of Marisha’s childhood in Eastern Europe and that she moved to the city to live with foster parents at an early age. She also discovers that Marisha really missed her home and parents in Kolonia. Jen decides to embark on a journey to Marisha's hometown.
