This feels like an excellent blending of GBC-esque sprites with lusher, more vivid backgrounds and tiles. Great animation, great palette, and lots of cute little details all over the place. A fantastic piece.
This is beautiful! I really love the water and reflections. Especially the reflections. The cloud reflections make it feel like a more whole world, moreso than most topdown views.
The colors and contrast make it feel really rich and warm too. Beautiful.
Love the sprites and the dithered reflections on the water! Super great
The downside of grass variation is that I often overdo it and everything becomes unreadable! Technically this is not only one of my largest pictures, but also the one with the highest color count, especially with moving animations of the water and reflection summing up! But, yeah, I still try to keep every element at 4 color count (+ eventual transparency) so that the final piece is rich, but also cohesive! :')
Thank you so much beetleking! I always try to enliven my locations as much as possible, especially if I have to deal with natural settings that kind of go against my notorious "tileset mindset"! :'>
I initially wanted to animate reeds too, but the piece kind of became too hard to read and scrapped the idea!
Thank you WreX! Yeah, I was struggling a bit with water, as the coastline animation required a bit of effort; Just one color (without the gradient) felt unfinished and strange and this was the most appealing solution I found, but I'll be trying something different for sure next time!
Thank you! Sorry for the long wait, but the last few months were really busy!
First think I've favorited on this site in like 6 mo. Excellent work.
Lovely piece. I love how architecture of nature looks. Many topdown games looks repetive but this breaks the barrier.
Your gallery must be shown to everyone who thinks "Less colors should be easier" and "After one grass tile is done, I've completed 20% of my work"
I absolutely love how you handled the reeds. I especially love the shifting water at the base of those on the right. The whole piece is just a joy to look at.
very nice colors , I just think that as the water goes darker the change of hue seems there to not harmonize with the rest of the piece , while the piece has a good harmony besides that , in general I don't think you need all of those darker water colors , I really like this piece besides that
Its been a while since you last posted. Was starting to miss your spectacular pieces. This one is absolutely stunning!!!
so nice
I would play!
