I didn't even think about texturing the trees. I wanted them appear to be pretty distant in the image, but texturing them a bit would definitely help them stand out agaist the sunrays. If I'd textured the trees. I probably also would've put darker trees and/or sunrays behind the textured trees just to create a bit more depth.Thank you for the advice, and I'm happy to know that you like the other parts of the image 
The colors are actually nice.
Instead of adjusting the colors I would give the background trees a bit of texture, similar to the cliffs. And I would make the sunrays fade more gradually - either with dithering or texture.
The other parts are good, I agree.
