Several identical heroes facing the same direction wake up to find their equipment, in fact, their very clothes stolen. could it be the work of the gods, or just an early mockup? too many sources of inspiration, but the big ones are Zelda and Sword of Mana i cant say too much about the game other than that i am looking for a DS or GBA programmer and that the battle style is tactical. this shot is supposedly in a cutscene, because it has no enemies or battle HUD Update 6/10 fixed even more issues, and made the borders go away, now they are only used at actual exits Update 6/7 fixed more tile issues, color issues, and made plants better to see Slight update 6/6 : made trees more defined, fixed some tile issues Original: http://img454.imageshack.us/img454/6417/mockyko3.png

Fantastic! I love the colourful graphics. The DS and GBA are not open-source, so no (legal) homebrew allowed - perhaps you should look at developing a game for the GP2X????. I'm a professional programmer and I'm currently (when time permits) creating a game on the GP2X handheld - it's a superb platform for home-grown games. Again - love the GFX.

woah thats a massive improvement using more contrast, I especially like the trees. Although ground and grass is nice too.

yes they are only the same pose because ive not drawn a lot of characters yet and theyve only been in that pose. it is an early mockup, to be sure :P

i tried giving the background more contrast like you said, is it better now do you think?

Gotta love the pallete and the "shiny" details on the tiles XD... But, I think you could avoid making the same pose for all of them, but that's just me against a whole excellent piece like that ;D

Also, I think the background could have a bit more contrast, just to not make the characters seem they are "pasted" on it...

. Your colours are always so interestingly used. There are a couple of horizontal and vertical tile-cut-offs (next to the top right dude for example), it sort of disturbs the rest of the scene, but I'm giving this 5/5

the border itself is only a placeholder, it will be done nicer. i dont think im going to get rid of it though, i personally think that pretty much all 2d games look better with a border because otherwise everything just seems to fall off the page in 2d games. people could feel differently though

Tree's kinda blend with background I suggest using a dark colour for some seperation. And the hereo eyes are to blended with the face.
