I think this is really interesting and well done.
The trees look superb.
The only thing that I think could be done that would be an easy touch-up would be to move the ponytail out of the way of the girl's face by pushing it back. It would read better; honestly it took a second to realize what it was (it looked like a beard to me for the first moment).
The trees and shrine look very nice, particularly the trees cast in pure shadow on the far right. The blue and orange used for the sky are good colour choices. It's interesting how the trees at the bottom and the visible portion of outer space at the top both form an invisible 'frame' around the clouds, Reimu and the Game Boy. I don't love the angle the Game Boy is at (it seems rotated on its y-axis compared to the perspective being suggested) but, it's definitely easier to pixel at that angle so it's fine. The lighting on Reimu's right arm and sleeve make sense (and the downcast lighting with red-tinted shadow is very nice throughout), but the shadow on her arm and sleeve confused me for a split-second - it made me think the arm was either melting or the sleeve reached to her wrists. Just a personal perception problem probably.
Very nice picture overall! Wanted to try and dig into the picture and post something beyond just "very nice", since that didn't seem like a great level of commentary to receive on pictures over and over.
Love this! Amazing that it's only 18 colors. Specifically love the color of the LCD and the gameboy plastic in the shade. So striking, very vibrant and with real intention in the mood. Love the trees as a framing device.
FWIW I also think the ponytail could be moved out of the girl's face, or at least to the left a little bit to reveal her cheek a bit more. But that is only if wanting to nitpick!
