Thanks for the critique Jok - your work is inspiring.I need to level up in anatomy for sure, that is still a bit of a struggle for me. Glad you like everything else!
I don't like pose of my character (anatomy issues) - but except of that - it's brilliant.
Everythig looks great, colors, effects, light (explosion!) There is also nice contrast between foreground and background. All small details adding a lot but it's not overloaded.
cool
Love all the action going on! The fire/smoke is especially nice.
Thanks for the kind comments! @b236 - me too! I would play it til blue in the face! @Theoden - yes that is the era I was inspired by for sure... games like Strider, Turrican, Super Metroid, and also some arcade shooters like Gunforce, Xain and Surprise Attack...
Thanks @CELS - I'm sure it would be possible nowadays! I think the graphics would have to be computed behind the scenes in RGB to achieve those transparency and interactive light effects, and then fit within a 32-color palette in realtime...
Thanks @Christoballs! Glad you like the background. The palette heavily favors the greyish purple gradient, so I'd have enough gradations to create that rainy/foggy distance...
I love how gritty and detailed this looks, despite the relatively simple designs. I wonder if it would even be possible to make a game like this.
Really cool, I like the rough look and rain effect.
Looks really nice, and the mood is well set. Love the background and tileset work. Looks like it could be a screenshot!
very action packed!
