Finally figured out that the wonderful patterning in the dress reminds me of a Hope Gangloff painting, mostly this one
This is great in every way, a real piece of art. The portrait, colors and as has been stated the dithering patterns. I even think the simple border was a good addition.
I've always been a fan of GraphicsGale by the way. I probably work twice as fast in it, never annoys me and has some nifty features.
The expression is so soulful and alive! Love the hair and hands too.
For a long time I jumped between grafx2 for static and GG for animation, but I'm glad I now switched to aseprite to have it all in one (even though I miss both Grafx2 and GG from time to time..)
Thank you! I wanted to try GraphicsGale because I wasn't happy with my pixelart workflow, which was Paint.NET + Photoshop for animation - kind of bummed by Paint.NET's lack of palette indexing, and didn't like using PS for exporting animations. Using GG would mean indexing and animation, so very interesting!
I've also been learning how to use Aseprite, so I can choose between the two in future. That being said I really really like Grafx2, which I'll probably use for static pieces, and GG/Aseprite for animated pieces!
Beautiful portrait! Love her hair and the way you render her skin. Pretty palette too, I'll have to try it out!
i like that the hair feels very wispy, i cant say that ive seen hair pixeled in such a way
Its interesting to have the flat pattern with the more formful body.
Phenomenal work. I love her expression and the use of pattern (and the way it fades out) is very nice.
Incredible stuff
