This was fun to see. When I was a child and played this game I was aleady fascinated with museums (I might have been working at one now if it wasn't for most of them closing due to the pandemic, although not this kind) and despite there not being much to look at it's something I remember fondly. It's nice to see this with some added life!
Oh, this is fantastic. It has all the charm of the original game graphics while bringing some new life to it!
Right, right. I don't actually like cities, but I can bear visiting them from time to time. I have family in London and further North in the UK, while I live in France, not far from the Paris area. :)
I'd like to go back to Berlin, too. Germany in general
I love the redraw. Really feels like it would fit right into the game I remember.
I have to say, the jigglypuff in a jar is pretty grim.
Cool, thanks!
The Hunterian is one I'd not heard of at all, but that's probably because I haven't spent much time in London. I'm a city person, but London is too much city for me. I'm not a frequent traveller but Paris and Berlin both feel less cramped to me. Do you split your time between London and Paris, or do you just frequently visit one of them?
Like the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, which is an equally fantastic place to visit (great taxidermies, superb collections), the Musée de Paléontologie et d'Anatomie Comparée is located in the Jardin des Plantes. And yes, you're correct: you can see hints of the skeletons from the outside.
It seems like a small building, but once inside it's actually crammed with skeletons, fossils and all manners of specimen kept in formaldehyde jars. The architecture's lovely, too.
If ever you get the opportunity to be in Paris again, I'd be more than happy to pop over and hang around there with you!
You've just reminded me that I loved visiting the Hunterian Museum in London, too! Man, I can't wait...
As someone who only ever played Red and Blue, this really takes me back. Lovely work.
I'm kicking myself for not going in the Musée de Paléontologie et d'Anatomie Comparée when I was last in Paris, but I seem to recall that you can actually see some of the skeletons through the windows from the neighbouring gardens. I think they're my favourite touch in your image. Until I looked up the originals, you tricked me into thinking they were always there (at least at the scale you've drawn them) because they're such a perfect fit!
IMHO the best detail is that the guy with the Old Amber is dressed up like the fogey from Jurassic Park
This is great!
Is there a formal way to claim a particular place for the Kanto redrawn project, or is it just whoever gets something done first?
