I never really upload to this site, and thats because i never really make small art pieces. Mine take months, and this one took 2-3 ones. Ive been making quick progress in pixel art foe a year now. Yes, a year, with only having done art for one year prior to that. The first piece i ever pixeled was this oc called Fherla. Shes been dear to my heart ever since the first idea of her was a league of legends username meant to sound cool, and then her first actualization in visual design as my only and first terraria character.
Shes changed much throughout the years. Shes gone from knight to rocker. And this piece is my ode to her and all the times weve been through together.
im not a master by any means. This shit took long i tell you. And this piece has had many purposes. One of them was to find a palette style that fit me. The aim was to create something around 128 colors, since my research on the whole color palette thing indicated that they were supposed to be a power of 2. I overshot it with 4 in this piece. Like i said im no master, but im just beginning my journey. This was also a palette test.
i dont think the size of the actual palette is an issue. 128 colors is far less i strongly assume than my favorite pixel game - heroes of might and magic 2. Always loved the vibrancy of the colors in that game, and thats why ive pushed my saturation level to beyond searing neon.
but i do respect your rules, and i do want to improve. In this piece there are some colors that i do know do look very similar, especially if you use the color space that my phone does, which im posting this piece from.
like i said, i dont really know how harsh you are on this. I could edit it down, dont think i will because i want this as a milestone in my journey, and see how ive progressed. And i also do not think the multitude of too similar colors really drag down the quality too much either. Theyre rarely placed together, and its a large piece so if you just look at it from afar on a reasonable level i dont think its super noticable.
my art doesnt get much attention. Not the point either. But i consider this one of the best pieces ive seen (sure theres better out there, and sure im biased. It contains so much learning and so many mistakes ill find it surprising if any of you other admins or people looking at this agrees). But its definitely the largest i know thats for sure (500x1500).
If you want to give a new artist a shot, one which i think will be worth your time down the line, do upvote and approve this.
i look forward to turn the world into pixels one day with you all.
