She likes building sandcastles. Uses DB16 palette.
Oo... Now I feel kinda bad on how lazy I ended up being with the skin. This was supposed to be just a quick practice doodle, and the skin was actually green originally. But then I ended up using way too much time on the background, and changing everything else to match...
I remember initially (not in this piece, but way back when I was first trying this palette) feeling like bright-pale-red would maybe be a bit gray and cold for skin, but in the end it always seems to end up looking really nice, so I guess my intuition needed some adjustment...
Anyway, thanks for the comment :)
Thanks for the comments everybody. I'm so happy to submit something again :) Been too long...
This is interesting; coz the primary uses I had in mind for the bright-pale-red color was skin and sand!...and the challenge was to find a balance so it would work ok in both contexts. This would have been a great image to have back then!
...and I love the hat!
Oh man - you've unleashed my innards. I just love geeky girls with glasses and big tufts of hair. Beautiful work!
The sandy details look really convincing especially with how you used this palette.
Cool work, such a fun application of the palette!
Wonderful style. The rendering of the sandcastles is particularly nice. There are lots of great, characterful details all over this piece.
Looooove the style of this! Lovely job!
