I'm trying to guess what station this is.. could it be.. Almere centrum?
OMG this is like a short film made by pixel art entirely! Soooo cooool
Love the animation and the little storytelling on this one!
First scene: 1 point perspective is used. I put a point down under the canvas and just started drawing lines from there upwards. Added the hanging sign in a similar fashion. The background simply scrolls. At the end I just slid a billboard with a shadow to the left, making it look like a transition.
Second scene: The train, building and backgrounds all move on different layers at different speeds. This is also used in the third scene with the background, train and passing poles;
Third scene: For the girl (aka me) I used rotoscoping. I filmed myself doing the action, converted it into a gif online, then put it in aseprite and scaled it down. This gave me a very messy animation that I had to manually cut out and clean up completely. This alone took me three days. The sign with the cancelation just scrolls by like the rest.
Afterwards I inbetweened everything (exept the girl) and doubled the framerate.
This is great! Wish I had the time and skills to do something similar. Could you briefly explain how you did the animation?
Such drama :D I like how the preview stands on its own too, both anims are really great. And yeah, train is the best :)
@Weerdmeester yeah, these aren't easy to do. looking forward to see it!
I have been planning to make more story focused animations for a while, just haven't really gotten around to actually do those yet. However, I am working on and off on a storydriven piece the last few weeks. It is a bigger canvas size then I am used to, so it might take a while still.
oh, my. i haven't seen a gif with animation actually depicting some story for so long i almost forgot they exist. nicely done.
I like trains!
