Your work on metal is simply stunning. We can learn so much from you. Kudos!
@21sult: it's really fun, you should try to make some studies of metal objects to get better with it.
@Asfodelo: I think the conceptual part is an integral part of art, especially more so for anything which has to do with games. I mean sure, not every art direction needs tons of in-depth concepts. But II generall yenjoy it if someone took the time to think about those things.
@Wakimojo: that's cool to know. I think all the details have soem kind of deeper effect, but it's hard to say how the effect is on someone not really deeply into the topic.
@MrQuetch
Indeed, this one is quite similar in style :)
@ink - yes, I decided to go to white mirror finish for this one - seemed appropriate, as the suit uses fluting, which would be highly difficult to craft.
great metal rendering, also like the background and work with palette
Thanks for sharing the thoughts behind it, it's only well rendered but also well thought!
think expertise, not nerdy and niche. lean into it (which clearly, you have done)
as someone not super keen on the subject of knights and armor, your skills pull me into that world every time you present something
I instantly recognized this after seeing your other helmet for so long. Very cool!
Gorgeous metal rendering and detailing! I also saved your document for further reference, some great observations in there.
@Amorph:
I am sharing a couple of those things I learned over the years, as I think it's quite interesting. Niche I mean that it's just kinda obscure stuff you probably wouldn#t think about. But I agree that it's pretty cool to know a few of those things, as they can have some impact on the way a design will come together.
@SHm31:
Glad you enjoyed it. I think it's pretty cool to consider design in context.
Definitely nerdy, hopefully not niche! This piece looks fantastic (both concept and rendering), and the doc is a really handy reference that I've bookmarked for the next time I'm working on armor design.
Thanks Irena.
