I didn't notice that either, I was going for chest-going into shadow, but I guess the 'scanline dither' does sort of make it look that way, should look a little better now

ears huh, I actually forgot about them D: I like it as-is, though. Ears are for communists. The clothing is meant to look rough/stiff if anything.
As for the better faces, that probably came from me staring at my composition professor listening to him blab on and on about stuff I can't remember. Old people have the most interesting faces.

That came out looking nice. I really dig the colors of the cloak/kimono/shirt/jacket. Looks like you've gotten better at doing faces too. So is his clothing supposed to have a fabric or rock like texture. The folds kind of look like scratches in the rock, which is why I ask.

Excellent work on the fabric, and I really like the texture on the stone in the back.
