I think they're both good in their own ways, though I wouldn't really say one is better than the other. They're both really good and you've both done a great job! Really makes me strive to do my best on this one!
Glad you like it. But 1bit version of The Fool by b236 is way better.
Oooh, I love that you did this with just the two colors, it looks wonderful! Great work here!!
sure! when i came across the term calavera years ago, it was in a book about a group of mexican artists active roughly around the beginning and first half of 20th century. apart from paintings, some of them were doing etchings, litographs and woodcuts and their works usually contained strong social commentary.
jose guadalupe posada probably used calavera the most (don quijote, cyclists and very famous catrina), but i'd say most of the works from that time are really remarkable. i'd recommend to also look at works of jose clemente orozco, diego rivera and others: https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/prmx/hd_prmx.htm.
Could you point me in the right direction? My browsing confused me with variety of different results.
excellent work! it reminds me of calavera woodcuts. and i love those.
Yeah, that horse is awesome.
