My submision for the Pixel Art Challenge: Light and dark
Unfinised. Will finish it later, but for now, enjoy :)
The day Magic was cursed
Once upon a time, in this land long ago.
A witch stood on a hill.
And the witch held a grudge.
Against the world, against the narrative.
Against the good, against the wicked.
And the witch cast a curse.
The first spoken and the last to be cast.
Once upon a time, in this land some time ago.
The monstrous and the casters found themselves in an ordinary world.
This was not ordinary.
For all of a sudden. It was gone and they were gone.
The suspicion, the wonder.
The benevolent and the evil.
The mighty and the stupendous.
Where the world was black and white. Now, it was grey.
No wizards give wonder to the villagers up the hill,
No necromancers could let the dead dance across the earth.
Healers could not lessen the tears of the sick,
Witches could not soften their grudges.
Then, the ground shook.
For the beasts and monsters and creatures that stood and ran and flew not by logic but by sheer will and imagination and magic...fell.
And where they once flew, there was air. And where they once stood, they now lay.
And when all was done.
When new laws took effect.
All that lay, suffocated under their own weight.
And the healers healing turned mundane.
And the bakers wife died of sickness.
And the wizard turned to illusions.
And only the children believed.
And the necromancer casted loneliness.
For the dead died once more.
And when all was done.
Once upon a time, in this land recently.
A young woman stood on a hill.
And with a contempt heart.
She went home.
