Thanks for all the comments :D ZZZkodi: yeah, I went a lil free on the colors... used different colors for the sphere and the spell even lol... I didn't pay attention to the colors, not that it matters because it's not for a video-game or anything... Zoso: Yeah, I haven't really anti-aliased any of my work before, I'm making a new animated sig where I anti-aliased, but that's my first. Ectoplasm On Toast: Yes, you probably saw it everywhere because I love the result :D I never thought of it as being like a spell icon, I just wanted to make myself a good avatar. I also wanted to practice my dithering skills too... I did base it on the staves in Runescape as well :-) I started off with the ambient lighting orb tutorial on st0ven's site: www.spriteart.com Then I liked that result, changed the colors to icy, added a stalf base, and made some spell around it :) ... and yes, you saw it everywhere because I like the result a lot.

I saw this as your avatar on RuneScape Community first, and then I saw it on the three newest works on the Pixel Joint main page.
It's very "cool". The dithering is done very well, and it sort of reminds me of those icons in World of Warcraft, although I have never played the game myself. Is this supposed to be modeled after the staves in RuneScape? It looks a lot like them. 5/5.

You could have made it even more pretty if you added some Anti-Aliansing on the ice and stuff.. anyway i like it :).
