Did quite a nice job on the wings Morganne! I particularly like the sparkling effect that the isolated white pixels give on the monarch pattern. Great use of antialiasing to add additional detail to very compact spaces on the limbs and the pose is quite befitting for the character, classic fae archetype. The incorporation of that vibrant purple hue into all the color ramps really ties the piece together. Would agree with eishiya on the anatomy point, if you particularly wanted that shape would have added some of that minimal fantasy clothing to contextualize it but otherwise great work!
I SHOULD HAVE PUT HER IN BOOTS.
Really impressive! As an 80's child, I naturally love fairies and this one is just perfect! Really clever use of colors, great playful pose. Man, I wish more people pixelled fairies.
TBH I was kind of playing off of all the boob comments I got on the original piece because some of the comments are absurd... so her breasts are just as absurd XD But I probably could have toned it down for realisms sake XD Thanks for the feedback everyone!
this is easily the best one- way cleaner and more dynamic, and the anatomy is practically perfect, from what I can tell. It does kinda seem like she's wearing an invisible push up bra, but I've never seen a fairy so they may just look like that!
Huge improvement on the wings! (Although personally I prefer the orange butterfly color).
I also miss the sparkle effect from the original, it was a nice finishing touch, but overall I'd agree that the technique is a lot better, especially in the rendering of the small details like the hands, hair and wings.
eishiya is so considerate. Totally agree with eishiya. The legs of this one are very soft and plump, but the chest is rough. So I prefer the 2006 one.
Ooh, thanks for the links, because I too was too lazy! Thanks for the critique, too. Let me tell you, that torso was a challenge and I'm still not 100% on it lol
I'd seen the 2005 fairy in the hall of fame, but I never noticed it was yours! Your art has changed a lot since then.
Links to the others, for the curious-but-lazy:
Original (2005)
Redux (2006)
The improvements in AA and colour are very clear :D I think the anatomy's a little less clear - the face and limbs on this one look great, but the chest isn't as naturalistic as in the previous ones.
Thank you so much for the in depth crit! Gosh I missed that. I'll for sure take notes on the anatomy parts, I've got a friend sending me some good study links, so, that combined with everyones various comments is a big help.
