create the piece normally, then just increase the size of the image by a multiple of 100 (x200, x300, etc). otherwise the pixels will be stretched. and make sure that the program doesn't resample the image, or the pixels will be blurred. most every program has a resize function.

that is not what I meant.  I've seen other works on here where the pixels have been zoomed 2X or so, and that is the intial viewing size of the image.  Is this done with a certin software, or tool within a certain software, or do you just create a piece, then make everying pixel a 2x2 for example?

Thanks for the feedback, I've been messing around with forming faces out of rectangles lately when I draw, must have rubbed off a little bit.
I changed the bg, based on a suggestion by feron over at pixelation that people mix up their bg's a bit, it now uses an odd dithering.
