Right, right, right, fortunately I have all the time in the world, let's do this
my word this would look fantastic in a mystery point & click set inside a museum
By spotlight I just mean that the original gives me a feeling like there's a big circular light shining on the people and nothing else, in yours the water and rocks brighten up the surroundings a bit more and so it feels like the rest of the environment is lit up a little too, so I think it's more natural.
I guess in the original the light source might be a ray of light between some clouds or something.
I should see it irl again soon to verify what you mean about the spotlight effect, I looked so much at it now that I can't be sure. The reds are definitely not there on the original, initially I wanted to not limit myself with colour count and try a very smooth ramp but in the end i couldn't get past 16 colours and used colours as I usually do with pixelart.
And yes someone else pointed that about the rain, I did try to start adding some in the beginning but didn't followed up as I rushed a bit to finish it, I can see how inconsistent and lacking it is now, but I wanted to have some time for the challenge which I don't even have in the end but that's life
I will definitely try to fix that
I made it over the course of a bit more than two weeks, I think it took 20 to 30 hours to complete but I didn't track the time! Thank you
Blasphemous sits on the same category as all church commissioned artworks like the Sixtine chapel ceiling, it's all bible Fanart
Yes I definitely got it a bit rushed by the end... Mainly because I focused on the bodies first and noticed I should have make progress on everything at once a bit more evenly halfway through. I do plan to revisit it slightly sooner or later as I want to try things on wepixel with it, I'll try to see what I can do about the rain. And thank you for the feedback it's appreciated
thank you mirre means a lot ! Though I'd suggest looking at the original irl before making the final call
I like how you did the lighting, judging from the pictures I feel like the original one has a bit of a "spotlight" effect on the scene, yours is a bit more even and natural. The palette choice is interesting, the pictures of the original don't show a lot of dark reds, is yours closer to how it looks in real life or did you want to use different colors?
One thing I miss from the original is that the rain effect seemed to permeate the scene, this seems more like "after the flood". I don't blame you though, rain in pixel art is absolute hell, and this seems impossible enough to pull off as it is, all that figure painting is really paying off!
Can't even imagine how much work this took! Gorgeous piece =)
Very complex task, very well handled.
Maybe a bit more "rain suggestions" in top part of the scene, like those drops in the left would help to further explain the scene.
Fantastic work with this. I think it works even better in pixel art form!
You captured it so incredibly well! Beautiful and deeply disturbing
glad you like it
