Mindblowing work, love how you achieve that painterly feel!
Incredible! Well worth the time and effort. The texture on the turtle and the snake (?) are awesome. The changes and blending in the snake's scales as it twists and bends is beautifully done!
jfc. your colors always has that *spark*. I love how your style makes this more majestic and magical
References are the key, but still the effort and patience of doing long repetitive task is always admirable. :)
Just in case it's ever relevant again I feel like I have to point you toward Guido Mocafico's Serpens photo series for inspiration when it comes to drawing scales.

@harvey Actually the scales weren't that bad! Took me a couple of days to go through it. I looked at some tutorials on YouTube for scales, I think the one from Alphonso Dunn was the most helpful. Took some pics of snakes and reduce them also, to get a grasp of how it could look like at that resolution. Then I went ahead, made the diagonals to get a grid, and then I started carelessly placing pixels one by one along the grid to create the volume. I was very happy with the first area (top right) but then it became harder idk why, and I didn't managed to get the same result for the rest of the snake. (Maybe overconfidence )
@artfromthearch thank you
@esven he he it gave me a lot of trouble but in the end it worked out. Glad you liked my wonky process. Huge fan of your work on the Collab too, those rocks and the river is amazing
@space-agewrangler ! I made it! Yes it's the idea, a bit like the carnisol Collab had the rollercoaster to tie it together, the world snake could surround the world like it's supposed to surround midgar. The idea is from Reo iirc.
I feel I would give up on rendering all those scales.
I really like how there's many different colors in the eye area and how it looks very clean and controlled.
Congratulations on finishing it! I like the idea behind the big eel/snake, I'm guessing it would join up with the one at the top right of the collab?
Wonderfully done. It was a treat seeing you slowly refine in on details with each WIP.
Amazing work!
