this is clearly stylized to look like the very first sprites from the game series.
I remember them very well because I spend months playing this game and translating text with dictionary so I could push the the game litlle further.
F***g snorlax and the gym blocked with bush to cut halted many months.
frankly I always thought they were ugly and after redesign in gold/silver they looked even worse.
But your pixel art only pretends to be 1st gen while being many classes above. I love the minimalistic dither it's simply perfect. It's actually impressive, i dont think I could do it even half as good.
I honestly would love to have remake or mod with those sprites.
