The UI is supposed to be Googie-ish since the movie takes place in the late 50s. If I ever do like a music track for this it will definitely be electroswing (well, maybe electro-jazz, i guess, since swing is more of a 20s-30s thing).
Theoretical game design:
Platformer beat-em-up with a basic skill tree. Game takes place on a single wide map that changes based on story events (rather than relying on unlocked abilities like a Metroidvania).
