The superconsciousness formerly known as Wintermute/Neuromancer comes to realize that it exists within a fictional world created by William Gibson. After many years of computation, W/N succeeds at developing a ROM of the consciousness of their creator. Having done so, W/N load the consciousness of Gibson (who in this case is really a robot) and use it to construct a pixelation for the amber mechanic: an individual whose existence they extrapolate from Gibson's consciousness. They still haven't determined the existence of cell phones, though.
